Hosiery comes in an endless assortment of styles today, although there was a time, during World War II, when women had virtually no choices in legwear. Most silk was imported from Japan (so that was off-limits), and nylon was reserved to make parachutes. It was a tough time to be elegant! Luckily, modern fabrics and knitting technology have given us many choices for affordable hosiery.
