I recently traveled to Spain for the first time, and the rainbow array of Flamenco costumes in shop windows were among my favorite sights. With so many flashy, frilly, fabulous dance costumes everywhere I looked, I couldn't help but be inspired to create some fun burlesque outfit ideas!

To create your own look full of Spanish sizzle, start with a long skirt - the more ruffles and fringe, the better! Our red bustle burlesque skirt would work nicely. Pair your skirt with a bra and cincher, or a corset.

Polka dots are very popular in the Flamenco world; they're a recurring pattern on both the fabrics used in the dresses and the dance shoes. You could carry this theme through with a cute polka dot burlesque corset and matching polka dot pumps. {DIY: Check out my blog post on adding retro fabric to shoes!}

Put on your favorite fishnets and some fancy ruffled rhumba burlesque panties. Don't forget the accessories - gloves, roses for your hair, and a delicate lace fan. Add touches of black lace throughout your costume for extra Flamenco flair.

For more inspiration for your burlesque outfit ideas, take a look at these gorgeous pics of Austin's own Lilly LaFleur of Black Widow Burlesque. All eyes were on her as she performed her own sultry take on Flamenco at a recent show. Lilly started her burlesque number in a red lace bra, lacy black waist cincher, fitted black skirt with red lace trim, and black lace fingerless gloves. As she danced, she peeled off the layers one by one, revealing red ruffled panties and classic nude fishnets with a black backseam. Bravo, Lilly!
