This weekend I'll be skating with other gals from TXRG rec league in the Grand Procession that opens Austin's Viva La Vida Fest. I'm super excited, especially since we're all painting our faces in the Dia de los Muertos style. I've never attempted to paint my face this way, so I've been looking around the web for inspiration and found some really lovely examples to share. I think this would make some amazing inspiration for a Latin themed burlesque outfit! Click on the images for pieces inspired by these amazing photos!
First up, a couple of gorgeous photos from 666 Photography here in Austin. Dig these amazing flower-festooned corsets, too!

I found a great tutorial for "Royal Sugar Skull" makup by Jangsara. Click the pic below for a full tutorial. I'll probably be using this one myself. There are tons more Dia de los Muertos makeup tutorials on YouTube as well.

So what do you think of Dia de los Muertos makeup? Have you ever worn it?

Love this playful (and interactive!) plus size lingerie sculpture by Japanese fashion designer Yoshikazu Yamagata. The idea to make these giant unmentionables came about from his imagining of "a mischievous little boy stealing clothes from a big monster who lives near a remote forest."

What size do you think that bra is? ; ) For further reading about Yamagata and this project, check out this interview with him.
